WHO ARE YOU?
“Look upon one who tells you
your faults as giving you a hidden treasure, as a wise person who shows
you the dangers of life. Follow that person: if you do, you will see good
not evil.”
-Dhammapada 76
I believe that in reference to business we are one of three things:
workers, managers or owners. Unfortunately, most of us take it as an insult
when we get categorized into a group that we do not approve of but what
makes a good team is that every individual has strengths and weaknesses.
I made a terrible manager, for I cannot and do not want to, carry out mundane
tasks consistently. I am a true owner by nature. I like to
create but I need others to help make it happen. Go with it, don’t
fight it.
I have seen many great salesmen get manager fever for they think it
is what they want and they feel that status is important. Just because
you are a manager does not mean you will make more money or that you will
have the same success that you had in sales. Don’t be so quick to
become a manager until you are sure you know who you are.
